As the first day of school approaches, Jeff Davis High School is preparing to welcome students back for another exciting year of learning, growth, and opportunity. Under the leadership of Principal Dr. Greer Smith, the school is placing a strong emphasis on student success, with attendance and academic achievement serving as key priorities for the 2026-27 school year.

Dr. Smith shared the following message with students and families as they prepare to begin the new school year:

“Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year at Jeff Davis High School! The faculty and staff at JDHS are excited to embark on the next step of our students’ educational journey and we are confident that this will be an outstanding year! This year will have an additional focus on attendance and academic performance, as they are permanently intertwined. Remember students that these four years will determine your next 40 years, so take advantage of all the opportunities that we offer here.”

As students return to campus, Jeff Davis High School remains committed to preparing young people not only for graduation but for life beyond the classroom. Through academic excellence, extracurricular opportunities, and the support of dedicated teachers and staff, JDHS continues to encourage students to challenge themselves, stay engaged, and make the most of every opportunity available during their high school years.

Hazlehurst Now joins the Jeff Davis community in wishing Dr. Greer Smith, the faculty and staff, students, and families a successful, safe, and rewarding 2026-27 school year. Go Yellow Jackets!
