Authorities are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to his arrest. Meanwhile, Atkinson County Sheriff David Moore says investigators now believe Miranda is no longer in the Atkinson County area.
Sheriff Provides Update
Yesterday, Atkinson County Sheriff David Moore shared an update on his official Facebook page regarding the ongoing search for Miranda. Sheriff Moore acknowledged the limited information released during the first 24 hours following the escape, explaining that investigators were focused on locating the fugitive while also protecting investigative techniques.
He wrote:
“I apologize in advance for the absence of information the last 24 hours. The 1st 12 was everything we could do to find him. Today I am working through what I can say and what investigators don’t want me to say (to keep a lid on techniques). In summary, the things I have learned over the last 24 hours leads me to believe the escapee is nowhere near Atkinson County. Maintain vigilance and call in any suspicions. We will continue to run down any tips or concerns.”
Although investigators believe Miranda has likely left Atkinson County, Sheriff Moore urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
FBI Issues Wanted Poster
The FBI has identified the fugitive as Pablo Zuriel Miranda, also known by the aliases Pablo Miranda Chavez and Pablo Miranda.
According to the FBI, Miranda escaped from the Atkinson County Jail in Pearson, Georgia, on July 26, 2026, where he was being held in pretrial detention on state charges of murder and aggravated assault. Following the escape, Miranda was charged with Felony Escape in Atkinson County, and a state arrest warrant was issued. On July 27, 2026, a federal arrest warrant was also issued in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia after Miranda was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
