For the past seven years, Heather W. Carter has called Hazlehurst home. By day, she inspires creativity as an art teacher at Jeff Davis Elementary. By night, she pours her heart into writing stories that encourage readers through faith, hope, and God’s grace.
Carter says she never expected to become an author. “I began writing during a difficult season of life, and over time God turned what started as a refuge into a calling,” she shared. Today, Carter writes faith-centered romance novels that focus on hope, family, grace, and God’s faithfulness through everyday life. While her stories are fictional, they reflect real-life emotions and remind readers that even in life’s hardest seasons, hope can still be found.
Through her independent publishing company, Wildflower & Grace Publishing, Carter has released multiple books, including Choosing Love, its companion novella Clay & Emma’s Honeymoon, and her newest novel, Holding on to Hope, which was released this summer. She is now putting the finishing touches on her first standalone novel, It Was Always You, a contemporary Christian romance she hopes to release soon.
For Carter, sharing her work with the community that has embraced her family makes the journey even more meaningful. “It means so much to have the opportunity to share these stories with the community that has become home to my family.” When she isn’t writing, Carter enjoys painting, baking, leading worship through her church choir, and spending time with her husband, Derek, their daughter, Maelee, and their pets.
