Hazlehurst has another reason to celebrate as hometown barrel racer Brooklyn Parlor continues to make her mark on the national stage. The 19-year-old daughter of Jenny and Chris Parlor recently competed at the 2026 National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) Youth World Championships, the largest Youth World event in NBHA history, with more than 2,300 horses competing from across the country.
Competing against some of the nation’s best young barrel racers, Brooklyn earned an impressive 7th-place overall finish—the second consecutive year she has finished seventh at one of the sport’s most prestigious championships. Her back-to-back Top 10 performances highlight the consistency, determination, and horsemanship she has developed over years of competition.
Brooklyn’s journey in barrel racing began when she was just six years old. Through years of hard work and dedication, she has grown into one of Georgia’s premier young competitors. She is also the reigning 2025 Georgia State NBHA Youth Champion, adding another significant accomplishment to an already impressive résumé.
While her success in the arena is remarkable, Brooklyn has also remained focused on her future beyond competition. She is on track to graduate in December 2026 from Southeastern Technical College with a degree in Radiologic Technology, preparing to begin a career in healthcare while continuing to pursue her passion for barrel racing. Balancing the demands of collegiate studies with elite-level competition requires discipline and commitment—qualities Brooklyn demonstrates both in and out of the arena.
Her achievements serve as an inspiration to young athletes throughout Jeff Davis County, proving that dedication, perseverance, and hard work can lead to success in multiple areas of life.
Hazlehurst Now congratulates Brooklyn on another outstanding accomplishment and wishes her continued success in both her barrel racing career and her future in healthcare.
