Residents who need help with federal tax questions or IRS account issues will have an opportunity to receive free, in-person assistance when the Internal Revenue Service hosts a temporary Community Assistance Visit in Hazlehurst later this month.
The event will take place Tuesday, July 28, through Thursday, July 30, at the Hazlehurst Public Library, located at 189 East Jarman Street. IRS representatives will be available each day from 10:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
No appointment is necessary.
IRS employees can help with:
- Tax account questions
- IRS notices and levies
- Payment adjustments
- Basic federal tax law questions
- Payment arrangements
- Identity verification
- Tax transcripts and forms
- IRS online services and resources
Tax professionals, attorneys, and tax preparers are also welcome to attend with clients who need assistance.
What to Bring
Residents should bring:
- A current government-issued photo ID
- Any IRS letters or notices
- Requested tax documents or other relevant paperwork
Because the library is serving as a temporary assistance location, IRS employees will not be able to accept payments on-site. Tax payments should be made online through IRS payment services.
Telephone interpretation will be available in several languages. Individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing may call 800-829-4059 in advance to schedule sign-language interpretation services.
Those who cannot attend the Hazlehurst event may schedule an appointment at another IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center by calling 844-545-5640 between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
