Jeff Davis turned in a dominant performance on both sides of the ball Friday night, rolling past Metter 40-0 on the road. The Jackets piled up 326 yards of total offense, including 295 yards on the ground, while the Jeff Davis defense held Metter to 185 total yards and kept the Tigers off the scoreboard for the entire night.

Jeff Davis struck first when Jacob Laney broke loose for a 32-yard touchdown run in the opening quarter. The Jackets then exploded for three more touchdowns in the second. Mark Durden connected with Jaiden West on a 31-yard touchdown pass before Kobe Hill raced 53 yards for a score. Durden provided another big play just before halftime, breaking free for an 80-yard touchdown run to send Jeff Davis into the break with a commanding 26-0 advantage.

The Jackets continued to make plays defensively in the second half. Durden intercepted a Metter pass in the third quarter and returned it for a touchdown, adding a defensive score to an already impressive night. Hill capped the scoring in the fourth quarter with his second touchdown of the game, this time from five yards out, to make it 40-0.

Durden finished with 101 rushing yards and a touchdown on just six carries, completed his only pass for a 31-yard touchdown and added the pick-six on defense. Laney carried six times for 97 yards and a touchdown, while Hill finished with 74 yards and two touchdowns on six carries. Together, Durden, Laney and Hill accounted for 272 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.

Jeff Davis was especially explosive on the ground, averaging nearly 11 yards per rushing attempt. The Jackets finished with six total touchdowns — four rushing, one passing and one defensive.

Metter managed 99 rushing yards and 86 through the air but could not find the end zone. The Tigers reached scoring range in the third quarter, but a 38-yard field-goal attempt was unsuccessful, preserving the Jeff Davis shutout.

The victory gives the Jackets another impressive road performance following last week’s 42-7 win over Clinch County. In two consecutive road games, Jeff Davis has now outscored its opponents 82-7.
