Jeff Davis wasted no time taking control Tuesday, exploding for 13 runs in the first inning on the way to a 17-0 shutout victory over Fitzgerald. The Jackets pounded out 18 hits, while Anna Grace Alligood was dominant in the circle, holding Fitzgerald to just one hit over four scoreless innings.

Jeff Davis sent batter after batter to the plate in a huge opening inning. Alligood got the scoring started with a two-run double, followed by an RBI triple from Savanna Robinette. Gabby Taylor, Skyden Chaney, Ava Bohannon, Abby Williams and Madison Joyce all contributed to the scoring as the Jackets quickly built a 13-0 advantage. Alligood added another RBI double in the second to make it 14-0.

The Jackets weren’t finished. In the fourth, senior Ava Bohannon launched a solo home run to left field, and Mikelynn Jones followed later with a two-run single to push the lead to 17-0. Bohannon had a big night at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs.

Alligood was equally impressive offensively, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and a team-high four RBIs. Robinette also collected three hits, including a triple, while Williams, Joyce and Taylor each finished with multiple hits. In the circle, Alligood allowed just one hit and no runs over four innings, striking out seven without issuing a walk.

The victory gives Jeff Davis its second consecutive shutout after defeating Wilcox County 12-0 Monday. Over the two games, the Jackets have outscored their opponents 29-0 while collecting 29 hits.

Jeff Davis returns home Wednesday to face Effingham County at 6pm.  Come out and support them!
