Jeff Davis put together a strong offensive performance Monday, collecting 10 hits on the way to a 9-4 victory over Pierce County.
Pierce County struck first in the top of the third inning when Figueroa delivered an RBI single, but the Jackets answered immediately. In the bottom half, Savanna Robinette singled home a run to tie the game before a Pierce County error allowed two more runs to score, putting Jeff Davis in front 3-1.
The Jackets continued to build on the lead before putting together another three-run inning in the sixth. Ava Bohannon launched a solo home run to center field, and Mikelynn Jones followed with a two-run single as Jeff Davis extended its advantage to 9-3.
Gabby Taylor earned the win in the circle, working four innings and allowing three runs — only one earned — on five hits. She struck out five and walked one. Anna Grace Alligood came on in relief to finish the game for the Jackets.
Jeff Davis spread the offense throughout the lineup. Jones and Bohannon each collected two hits, while Jones and Alligood drove in two runs each. Robinette also contributed an RBI as the Jackets finished with 10 hits.
Pierce County’s Mai led the visitors with three hits and two stolen bases, while Figueroa drove in a run.
The victory gives Jeff Davis its second win in three games after Saturday’s 5-2 victory over Coffee.
The Jackets have a quick turnaround and will travel to Thomasville today for their next matchup.
