Jeff Davis Middle School Cross Country continued its impressive start to the season Wednesday, Sept. 2, with both the boys and girls capturing team championships at the Champions of Middle Georgia Invitational in Jones County. The victories extended an impressive streak for JDXC. The boys have now won three consecutive meets, while the girls have won two straight.
JDMS Boys Take Third Straight Title
The Jeff Davis boys claimed first place with 52 points, edging host Jones County Middle School, which finished second with 57. The Jackets’ top five runners posted a team average of 13:54 in the two-mile race.
Abel Cabrera led JDMS with a runner-up finish, crossing the line in 13:13.63. Nathan Rayo also earned individual medal honors, placing 10th in 14:04.07.

JDMS Girls Capture Second Straight Championship
The Jeff Davis girls were equally impressive, winning their division with 36 points, well ahead of second-place Jones County with 59. The Jackets’ scoring five posted an average time of 16:41.
Four JDMS girls earned individual medal honors, led by Valerie Porras, who placed fourth in 16:02.82. Dakota Mincey was right behind her in fifth at 16:03.22, while Rayleigh Pierce finished seventh and Winry Clark placed ninth.

With two team championships, six individual medalists and another pair of strong performances throughout the lineup, the Jackets returned home from Jones County with plenty to celebrate.
