Jeff Davis Middle School Softball battled through a back-and-forth contest Tuesday, scoring the go-ahead run in the seventh inning to defeat J.R. Trippe Middle School of Vidalia, 12-11. The Yellow Jackets put together a strong offensive performance, collecting 16 hits and building an early advantage before J.R. Trippe battled back to tie the game late.

Jeff Davis broke through in the second inning when Zoe Mercer delivered a three-run triple. Sadie Williams followed with an RBI single, and another run scored on an error as JDMS put five runs on the board. The Yellow Jackets kept the offense rolling in the third, adding another five runs on six hits. Paxtan Felix drove in two runs with a single, while River Bruce doubled to bring home three more.

J.R. Trippe continued to battle, eventually pulling even at 11-11 in the bottom of the sixth.

That set up the deciding seventh inning. With the game tied, Jeff Davis took advantage of a J.R. Trippe error to push across the go-ahead run and regain the lead, 12-11. JDMS then held on in the bottom half of the inning to secure the victory.

Jackets Collect 16 Hits

Harper Cravey led the Jeff Davis offense with four hits in five at-bats. Mercer finished with three RBIs, while Bruce had 4 RBIs, and Paislee Davis added two hits. The Jackets also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks. Ellie Worth and Sadie Mercer each walked twice.

In the circle, Jaiden Folsom went the distance for JDMS, pitching all seven innings. She allowed five hits while striking out three and earned the win. The victory gave the young Yellow Jackets a hard-fought road win and showed their ability to respond when the game tightened late.
