Jeff Davis Middle School Softball jumped out early and never looked back Tuesday, rolling to a 13-2 victory over Metter Middle School. The Jackets went to work immediately, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. River Bruce drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, an error brought home another, and Zoe Mercer added an RBI single to give JDMS the early advantage.

Jeff Davis kept the pressure on in the second. Sadie Williams singled home a run, two more scored on a Metter error, and Sadie Mercer delivered an RBI single as the Jackets continued to build their lead. JDMS added two more in the third when Bruce singled down the left-field line and Jaiden Folsom brought home a run with a sacrifice fly.

The Jackets collected eight hits in the win. Williams and Mercer led the way with two hits each, while Williams, Mercer, Bruce and Folsom each finished with two RBIs. Jeff Davis also showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks, including two by Ellie Worth.

Folsom earned the win in the circle, working two innings without allowing a hit. She struck out three while allowing two runs and issuing seven walks. Defensively, the Jackets played a clean game, finishing without an error.

The combination of early offense, timely hitting and solid defense helped JDMS secure the convincing 13-2 win.  When you’re wearing navy, you’re as good as gold!
