Residents will have the opportunity to celebrate the history of Jeff Davis County while investing in its future during the inaugural 1905 Society Dinner, hosted by the Jeff Davis County Community Foundation. The event will be held on Thursday, August 20, at 7:00 p.m. at The Big House, located at 25 East Coffee Street in Hazlehurst.
The evening will feature a steak or chicken dinner, cocktails, fellowship, and stories highlighting the people, resilience, and community spirit that have shaped Hazlehurst and Jeff Davis County since the county’s founding in 1905. The 1905 Society Dinner also serves a larger purpose—raising support for the Community Foundation’s permanent Community Fund, which provides resources for projects and initiatives that strengthen Jeff Davis County.
The Jeff Davis County Community Foundation was established in 2024 following Hurricane Helene to help meet immediate recovery needs while building long-term support for the community. In less than a year, the Foundation has raised nearly $500,000 and has assisted numerous homeowners as they recovered from the storm.
Foundation leaders say every dollar raised through the 1905 Society Dinner will be invested in the Community Fund, helping ensure the organization can continue responding to community needs and supporting meaningful projects for years to come. Organizers hope the evening will bring together residents, business leaders, and community supporters for a night of great food, fellowship, and a shared commitment to the future of Jeff Davis County.
