Jeff Davis County Schools is celebrating strong student performance on the 2025-2026 Georgia Milestones, with students surpassing state averages in several areas and earning top rankings within the district’s comparison groups in our area. The results show gains across multiple grade levels and subject areas, including math, science and social studies.

Among the highlights, Jeff Davis seventh-grade students ranked No. 1 out of 19 districts in our area in both developing and proficient learners in math. Seventh-grade math students surpassed the state average by 8 percentage points among developing learners and 5 percentage points among proficient learners.

Strong results were also recorded in science, where developing learners performed 5 percentage points above the state average. Jeff Davis eighth-grade students delivered another standout performance in social studies, ranking No. 1 out of 19 districts among proficient learners. In that subject, developing learners performed 11 percentage points above the state average, while proficient learners were 10 percentage points above the state average.

Overall, the district reported students performing above state averages in several measured categories:

  • Math developing learners: 8 percentage points above the state average
  • Math proficient learners: 5 percentage points above the state average
  • Science developing learners: 5 percentage points above the state average
  • Social studies developing learners: 11 percentage points above the state average
  • Social studies proficient learners: 10 percentage points above the state average

While the numbers provide an important measure of academic performance, they also represent the work taking place throughout Jeff Davis County Schools every day. The results reflect the commitment of students who put in the work, teachers who challenge and support them, school leaders who guide instruction and families who reinforce learning at home.
