Authorities say suspect was located in Pearson after leaving the Douglas scene
COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. — A Pearson man was arrested after an alleged stabbing in Coffee County earlier this month that left a man with a knife wound to his lower back.
According to a Coffee County Sheriff’s Office report cited by Douglas Now, deputies responded to a Waterford Street location in Douglas at approximately 1 a.m. Sept. 9 following a report of a stabbing. Witnesses reportedly identified Tyrone Lamar Alexander, 42, of Pearson, as the person who allegedly stabbed the victim before leaving the scene in a white Ford Fusion. Coffee County 911 issued a lookout for the vehicle, and a Pearson Police officer later located the Ford and conducted a traffic stop. Coffee County deputies also responded to the stop. (Douglas Now)
Authorities reported finding suspected methamphetamine inside the vehicle. The available report does not indicate whether a separate drug charge was filed in connection with that discovery. (Douglas Now) Alexander was taken into custody and booked into the Coffee County Jail at approximately 3 a.m. Sept. 9.
According to the report, Alexander was charged with aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit a felony, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, and a probation violation related to failure to register as a sex offender. (Douglas Now) As of the report published Sept. 21, Alexander remained in custody.
Additional information about the circumstances leading up to the alleged stabbing and the victim’s current condition has not been publicly detailed in the reporting reviewed by Hazlehurst Now. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office’s current press-release page does not contain a separate release about the incident.
All charges are allegations, and Alexander is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
