Savanna Robinette delivered a huge night at the plate Tuesday, driving in five runs as Jeff Davis rolled to a 9-2 road victory over Thomasville. Robinette went 4-for-4, highlighted by a second-inning grand slam that broke open a tie game and put the Jackets in control.
Jeff Davis wasted little time getting started. In the top of the first, Anna Grace Alligood brought home a run on a groundout before Robinette doubled down the left-field line to score another, giving the Jackets an early 2-0 lead.
Thomasville answered with two runs in the bottom half to tie the game, but the tie didn’t last long. With the bases loaded in the second, Robinette launched a grand slam to center field, putting Jeff Davis back in front 6-2. The Jackets never surrendered the lead and went on to add three more runs before the night was over.
While Robinette provided the power, Gabby Taylor delivered a strong complete-game performance in the circle. Taylor allowed just two hits over seven innings, with both Thomasville runs unearned. She struck out two and walked four to earn the victory.
Jeff Davis finished with 12 hits. In addition to Robinette’s four-hit performance, Abby Williams and Ava Bohannon each collected multiple hits. The Jackets also turned a double play defensively and held Thomasville scoreless over the final six innings.
The victory marks back-to-back wins for Jeff Davis, following Monday night’s 9-4 victory over Pierce County.
Jeff Davis returns home today (Wednesday) to welcome Berrien for its next game.
