JDMS Softball jumped out to an early four-run advantage Tuesday, but a big second-inning rally by Tattnall County Middle School turned the game around as the Jackets fell 15-6, ending their season.
Jeff Davis came out swinging in the top of the first. River Bruce singled to drive in two runs, Jaiden Folsom followed with an RBI single, and Harper Cravey brought home another run on a groundout to help JDMS build an early lead. After Tattnall County answered, the Jackets continued to produce in the second. Zoe Mercer delivered an RBI single as Jeff Davis extended its advantage to 6-3.
The game shifted dramatically in the bottom half of the inning. Tattnall County scored seven runs on three hits, including a three-run triple by Camden Q, to take a 10-6 lead. Tattnall added another run in the third before putting four more on the board in the fourth on a grand slam by Mia P.
Folsom worked four innings in the circle for JDMS, allowing 15 runs, six earned, on 11 hits while striking out three and walking three. Mercer led the Jackets at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Bruce and Folsom also contributed key RBI hits during Jeff Davis’ strong start.
The Jackets showed plenty of offense early, scoring six runs over the first two innings, but were unable to regain the momentum after Tattnall County’s seven-run second inning.
