The Jeff Davis Middle School softball team took the field twice Saturday during the Annual Jeff Davis Stinger Classic Tournament, sponsored by the Jeff Davis High School softball team. The Lady Yellow Jackets faced Brantley County and West Laurens during the tournament, coming up short in both contests but gaining valuable early-season experience against two visiting programs.
Jeff Davis vs. Brantley County
Jeff Davis opened tournament play against Brantley County.
The Lady Jackets worked to create opportunities at the plate while facing a Brantley team that was able to put runs on the board and build an advantage as the game progressed.
Despite the loss, the game gave Jeff Davis another opportunity to get players on the field and continue developing as a team early in the 2026 season.
Jeff Davis vs. West Laurens
The Lady Jackets returned to the field later Saturday for their second and final game of the tournament, this time facing West Laurens.
Jeff Davis again battled throughout the contest but was unable to overcome West Laurens, finishing the day with its second loss.
While Saturday didn’t produce the results the Lady Jackets wanted on the scoreboard, tournament play provided valuable innings for a young middle school program continuing to develop players and build experience for the season ahead.
The annual tournament also highlights the connection between the Jeff Davis middle and high school softball programs, with the Jeff Davis High School softball team sponsoring the event and helping provide an opportunity for middle school athletes to compete at home. Jeff Davis will now turn its attention to the remainder of the 2026 schedule as the JDMS Yellow Jackets continue working, developing and gaining experience with each game. In fact, their next contest is today as they get another opportunity to play West Laurens.
