Hazlehurst Church of God and Good Ground Food Pantry & Resource Center invite the community to join them in making a difference this Thanksgiving season.
HAZLEHURST, GA — What began as a vision to meet the needs of local families has grown into an annual community outreach that continues to bring hope, generosity, and tangible expressions of love to Jeff Davis County.
On Sunday, November 22, 2026, beginning at 4:00 p.m., Hazlehurst Church of God and Good Ground Food Pantry & Resource Center will host the Third Annual Miracles on Cromartie Street, a community-wide event designed to bless hundreds of individuals and families during the Thanksgiving season.
Now in its third year, Miracles on Cromartie Street has become more than a holiday giveaway. It is a demonstration of what can happen when churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals come together with one common purpose: serving their neighbors.
This year’s event will feature two major outreach opportunities, including a large community resource giveaway and the distribution of 300 complete Thanksgiving meals to local families.
Two Opportunities to Bless the Community
The Community Resource Giveaway will provide families with access to a variety of donated items, including toys, household goods, and other practical resources intended to help meet everyday needs.
In addition, 300 families will receive a complete Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey and traditional holiday trimmings, allowing them to prepare and enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner in their own homes.
Both giveaways will take place on the Hazlehurst Church of God campus on Cromartie Street. Items will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. No preregistration is required, and deliveries will not be available.
Organizers emphasize that the event is open to the community and is intended to serve families who could benefit from additional support during the holiday season.
A Ministry Born from a Heart to Serve
The heart behind Miracles on Cromartie Street is deeply connected to the ongoing community outreach efforts of Hazlehurst Church of God and Good Ground Food Pantry & Resource Center.
Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene in 2024, church leaders and volunteers mobilized to provide emergency assistance to families throughout the area. Over an 18-day period, their relief efforts helped provide approximately 30,000 hot meals to people affected by the storm.
What began as an emergency response helped lay the foundation for a much larger, ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of the community.
In August 2025, Good Ground Food Pantry officially opened its doors, establishing a consistent source of food assistance and community support. Today, the ministry serves approximately 120 to 125 families each week through its regular food distribution efforts.
In addition to weekly operations, Good Ground has coordinated large-scale mobile food distributions, with individual events serving more than 300 families.
Through these efforts, the ministry has witnessed firsthand the growing needs facing families throughout Jeff Davis County and surrounding communities.
The mission behind these outreach efforts extends beyond providing food or household items. At its heart is a desire to remind individuals and families that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten. Through practical acts of service, the ministry seeks to demonstrate the love of Christ and encourage the entire community to participate in meeting the needs of others.
Community Partners Needed to Make Miracles Possible
As preparations begin for this year’s event, organizers are calling on local businesses, civic organizations, churches, and individuals to help make the Third Annual Miracles on Cromartie Street a success.
With plans to serve hundreds of families, the event requires significant resources, financial support, donated goods, and volunteer manpower.
There are several ways the community can get involved:
- Financial Partnerships: Monetary donations help organizers purchase turkeys, Thanksgiving meal items, supplies, and other resources necessary to serve participating families.
- Food Donations: Contributions of canned goods, nonperishable food items, and traditional Thanksgiving meal ingredients help provide complete holiday meals.
- Resource Donations: New toys, household items, and other useful goods are needed for the Community Resource Giveaway.
- Volunteer Opportunities: Individuals, families, church groups, civic organizations, and businesses are invited to participate in Serve Day by helping organize, prepare, distribute, and assist with event operations.
- Business Sponsorships: Local businesses are encouraged to become community partners through financial contributions, donated resources, or volunteer participation.
Businesses and organizations that partner with the event will receive public recognition through event-related advertising and promotional efforts as a way of acknowledging their investment in the community.
Organizers hope to see broad participation from throughout Jeff Davis County, emphasizing that contributions of every size can make a meaningful difference.
More Than a Giveaway — A Community Coming Together
While Thanksgiving is traditionally a season of gratitude, the organizers of Miracles on Cromartie Street believe it should also be a season of generosity.
For some families, the cost of preparing a traditional Thanksgiving meal can create additional financial strain. For others, the need may extend beyond food to basic household necessities and resources.
By bringing these services together in one event, Hazlehurst Church of God and Good Ground Food Pantry hope to relieve some of those burdens while creating an atmosphere of encouragement, compassion, and community.
The event also provides an opportunity for people from different backgrounds, churches, businesses, and organizations to work alongside one another for a common cause.
The goal is not simply to host another event, but to strengthen a community where individuals recognize that everyone has something to contribute. Whether through financial giving, donated resources, or a willingness to serve, each act of generosity has the potential to make a lasting difference in the life of another person.
An Invitation to Be Part of the Miracle
With the event approaching, organizers are encouraging those interested in participating to make contact as soon as possible.
Whether through a financial gift, donated goods, business sponsorship, or a few hours of volunteer service, every contribution helps extend the reach of this community initiative.
