Residents interested in seeking the Ward 4 seat on the Hazlehurst City Council will have the opportunity to qualify beginning Monday, August 17, for the upcoming November 3, 2026, Special Election.
According to the official qualifying notice, candidates may qualify Monday, August 17, through Wednesday, August 19, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. each day. The qualifying period will officially end at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19.
Candidates must qualify in person at the Jeff Davis County Board of Elections and Registration Office, located at 15 Public Safety Drive in Hazlehurst (the former Sheriff’s Office).
The special election has been called to fill the Ward 4 seat on the Hazlehurst City Council. Residents interested in running should ensure they meet all eligibility requirements before the qualifying period begins.
The election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
