The Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets found their offensive rhythm Saturday, collecting 16 hits on the way to a convincing 12-2 victory over Centennial. Savanna Robinette led the charge, driving in four runs on two hits, including a three-run home run to center field in the third inning.
Jeff Davis got on the board in the first when Robinette’s groundout brought home the game’s opening run. Centennial answered in the bottom half to tie the game at 1-1. The Yellow Jackets then began to pull away, with Robinette delivering one of the biggest hits of the day in the third. Her three-run homer helped Jeff Davis build its advantage before Centennial’s Iyanna Boykin answered with a solo home run in the bottom half. That would be Centennial’s final run.
Briley Reagin had an impressive all-around performance for the Yellow Jackets. Reagin earned the win in the circle, allowing just two runs on four hits over five innings while striking out five and walking three. She was equally impressive offensively, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Jeff Davis in hits.
The Jackets received contributions throughout the lineup. Kenley Pearson, Madison Joyce, Gabby Taylor and Anna Grace Alligood each recorded multiple hits as Jeff Davis finished the game with 16.
The 12-run performance was a strong offensive response for the Yellow Jackets following two tough region losses earlier in the week. Jeff Davis returns to region competition Tuesday when the Yellow Jackets travel to Berrien County.
