After a tough road loss at Cook earlier in the week, Jeff Davis Varsity Softball responded in a big way Thursday, shutting out Fitzgerald 9-0 behind a two-home run performance from Savanna Robinette and a dominant outing in the circle from Anna Grace Alligood.

The Jackets entered Thursday looking to rebound from an 8-0 loss at Cook on Tuesday. Cook broke a scoreless game open in the third inning and finished with 10 hits. Alligood worked four and two-thirds innings for Jeff Davis, allowing eight runs, five earned, while striking out two and walking two.

Two days later, the Jackets flipped the script. Robinette wasted no time putting Jeff Davis on the board against Fitzgerald, launching a solo home run to center field in the first inning. Jeff Davis made it 2-0 in the second before Ava Bohannon delivered another big swing in the third, sending a two-run homer over the left-field fence.

While the Jackets’ offense continued to build the lead, Alligood was in complete control in the circle. She struck out 14 batters over six shutout innings, allowing only two hits and one walk. Jeff Davis put the game away in the sixth. Alligood doubled home a run before Robinette struck again, blasting a two-run homer to left field for her second home run of the night.

Robinette finished with two home runs and three RBIs, while Bohannon’s homer accounted for two more runs. The Jackets piled up 13 hits, with Mikelynn Jones, Madison Joyce, Alligood and Robinette each collecting two hits. Jeff Davis also played error-free defense.

The 9-0 victory gave the Jackets an emphatic response following Tuesday’s loss and sent them into their next matchup with some momentum. Jeff Davis will travel to Brantley County on Tuesday for its next game.
