Jeff Davis County students had a strong showing at the 2026 Georgia Young Farmers Association Livestock Show, bringing home championships, class wins and other honors from the statewide competition. The show was held August 14-15 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter in Perry and brought together approximately 550 Georgia 4-H and FFA exhibitors showing nearly 1,800 head of livestock. Competition included beef and dairy cattle, goats, sheep and swine.
Among the Jeff Davis exhibitors was Piper Woodcock, who earned a class win with Jazzy, her High Percentage Simmental.
Carleigh Brewer also had an impressive showing in the swine competition. Brewer was named Reserve Champion in 9th Grade Showmanship and exhibited the Division 3 Champion Barrow. She also placed third overall with her Yorkshire barrow.
Sadie Jo Brewer earned two top-five class finishes, placing third in Class 48 with her market gilt and fourth in class with her commercial breeding gilt.
Lily Ann Crosby collected several honors during the show. With Shaggy, Crosby earned Division Grand Champion Dark Cross Commercial Breeding Gilt and Reserve Champion honors. She also exhibited a Reserve Champion Division Market Gilt that finished fifth overall among market gilts. Crosby continued her success with Frost, earning Grand Champion Division Barrow and Champion Light Cross, while Gator was named Grand Champion AOB Barrow.
Jeff Davis was also represented in FFA competition by Marley Powell and Drake Rye. While the two did not place, they joined fellow local exhibitors in representing Jeff Davis on the statewide show stage.
The Georgia Young Farmers livestock program gives young exhibitors an opportunity to demonstrate much more than their work in the show ring. Preparing and exhibiting livestock requires months of responsibility, animal care, agricultural knowledge and commitment.
