Jeff Davis Middle School Softball put together a big third inning and backed it up with strong pitching and error-free defense Wednesday, shutting out Swainsboro Middle School 10-0. The Jackets were led offensively by Sadie Williams, who went 3-for-3 at the plate. Williams recorded three singles and drove in two runs as part of a 10-hit day for JDMS.
Jeff Davis took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when a run scored on a passed ball, but the Jackets broke the game open in the third. JDMS plated seven runs in the third inning, with contributions throughout the lineup. River Bruce brought home a run on a groundout, while Jaiden Folsom and Zoe Mercer each delivered RBI singles. Ellie Worth drove in two runs with a single, and Williams added a two-run single to help give the Jackets a commanding advantage. Worth also had a strong day at the plate, finishing 2-for-3.
In the circle, Folsom turned in a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits over five innings. She struck out six and walked two while keeping Swainsboro off the scoreboard from start to finish. The Jackets were equally sharp behind her. JDMS did not commit an error, with Mercer recording a team-high four defensive chances.
Swainsboro managed just three hits in the game as Jeff Davis combined timely hitting, strong pitching and solid defense to secure the 10-0 victory. The win gives JDMS another strong performance as the Jackets continue their 2026 season.
