Jeff Davis saw its two-game shutout streak come to an end Wednesday as Effingham County defeated the Jackets 11-1. Effingham jumped out quickly, scoring three runs in the top of the first. Hart opened the scoring with a solo home run to left field, while RBI hits from Wiley and Hill gave Effingham an early 3-0 advantage. Effingham added two more runs in the second and three in the third, with RBI doubles from Hill and Hart helping stretch the lead.
Gabby Taylor started in the circle for Jeff Davis and worked 1⅔ innings, allowing three runs — only one earned — on five hits while striking out two and issuing no walks. Briley Reagin pitched four innings in relief, striking out four. Of the eight runs charged to Reagin, only two were earned.
Offensively, Jeff Davis was held to three hits. Anna Grace Alligood went 1-for-2 and drove in the Jackets’ lone run, while Reagin and Taylor each added a hit. Effingham finished with 13 hits, led by Hart, who went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
