Coastal Plains High School – Jeff Davis Site has moved into its new location at 71 Burketts Ferry Road in Hazlehurst. The site offers students a tuition-free opportunity to earn an accredited Georgia high school diploma through a flexible evening program with personalized support.
Led by Site Directors Mrs. Carol Morris and Dr. Christy Stapleton, the Jeff Davis Site brings together teachers and support staff who help students work toward graduation and prepare for life after high school. Coastal Plains High School offers and opportunity to start again – or keep moving forward.
The Jeff Davis Site serves students ages 14–20 who have at least attempted ninth grade. Students may enroll because they need to catch up on credits, return after leaving school, or find a schedule that works better with employment, parenting, and other responsibilities. Previously earned credits are reviewed and applied toward graduation, allowing students to build on what they have already completed.
Students complete self-paced, mastery-based coursework with certified teachers available to explain concepts, answer questions, and provide one-on-one tutoring. Students receive the time and support they need to demonstrate understanding and move forward.
The Jeff Davis Site offers:
- Flexible evening attendance.
- Individualized, self-paced coursework.
- Technology-based instruction with teacher support.
- One-on-one tutoring.
- Credit recovery opportunities.
- Year-round learning and ongoing enrollment.
Coastal Plains offers support along the way. Students have access to counselors, mentors, social workers, graduation coaches, and career specialists. Together, these staff members help students address challenges, monitor progress, set goals, and plan their next steps.
Support includes academic and graduation planning, college and career guidance, and assistance exploring education, training, and employment opportunities.
In addition, Jeff Davis students have access to eight Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathways, each consisting of three sequential courses:
- Agriculture Leadership in Animal Production.
- Agriculture Leadership in Horticulture.
- Therapeutic Services Pharmacy.
- Therapeutic Services Public Health.
- Horticulture and Animal Science Technology & Biology.
- Horticulture Mechanical Systems.
- Business and Technology.
- Early Childhood Education.
Staff help students choose courses that connect their interests with their graduation and career goals.
Additional Opportunities for Eligible Students
Work-Based Learning connects qualifying employment with a student’s education and provides an opportunity to earn CTAE elective credit. Students must be at least 16, be employed, and have at least one CTAE course on their transcript. The counselor and Work-Based Learning coordinator review eligibility and program requirements.
Dual Enrollment allows eligible students to earn both high school and college credit through a participating postsecondary institution. Counselors help students navigate eligibility, applications, and course selection.
The Accelerated Career Diploma offers a graduation route that combines required high school coursework with qualifying technical college credentials. Students work with their counselor to determine eligibility and develop a plan.
The CTAE+ option provides qualifying students planning to attend technical college with a graduation option connected to completion of the Business and Technology pathway. Counselors explain the requirements and help students determine whether it fits their plans.
College courses and technical training are provided through participating postsecondary institutions and are subject to their admission requirements and program availability.
The Jeff Davis Site helps students earn their diploma while preparing for college, technical training, military service, or employment. For students who need a different approach to completing high school, the site offers a local opportunity to move forward with encouragement and support.
